Another tax on the disabled!

The popular mobility scooter, which has given many elderly and disabled people a new lease of life, has fallen prey to an EU-imposed tax, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.

Here for the full story.

Two things - tell me why we should be taxed at all on scooters and what the hell is the unelected EU doing imposing such crap on a nation state???

Well, I read the article and I read the comments. And I don't live there and I don't know what the EU is or what they're supposed to be doing and all that. And I don't know about a lot of other stuff in the comments, cause I don't live there and I don't know who gets charged what and I don't know about benefits for disabled people, etc....

I do, however, remember the "Yes, Minister" episode, so I could follow that one well enough. That's an interesting theory that no one else seemed interested enough to comment on.

As I have said before, too many scooters here are being used by lazy people rather than actual disabled people. Or, they are being used by people who disable themselves by just getting fat. It would be good if the tax could be waived for real disabled people and everyone else still had to pay.

I can gather that you are not a big fan of the EU...there are those of us in the U.S. that feel the same way about our government. Today scooters, what tomorrow?

I live in one the highest taxes states (Ohio) in the U.S. in one of it's highest taxed counties, in one if it's highest taxed cities (Cleveland). They are going to tax us until we are all financially crippled (no pun intended).
